Quimbly is an award-winning, three weight hand-lettered sans serif family designed to coordinate with modern calligraphy scripts. Selected as one of Typographica’s Best Typefaces of 2015, Quimbly’s thoughtful design makes for easy-to-read text at all point sizes, both large and tiny!
Rich Opentype features include decorative swashed capital letters, stylish proper titles, old-style numerals and a full set (uppercase & lowercase) of small caps. Multi-language support is also included in the font.
Finally! A legible, hand drawn sans serif to complement your favorite script fonts, even at very small point sizes.
After creating several types of calligraphy-inspired font families, it was time to build a coordinating upright sans serif that could be used alongside each style. I designed Quimbly to perfectly complement modern brush stroke and calligraphy typefaces – warm and organic, but neutral at the same time. (Quimbly pairs particularly well with Rivea and Saissant!) Special attention was paid to the letterforms’ legibility at small point sizes, something of a necessity for stationery. So if your client needs hand-written 4pt text, fear no longer!
Each character is balanced with evenly drawn strokes and rounded forms. The kerning is robust and comprehensive. Each weight includes a full set of small caps (both uppercase and lowercase). The result is a versatile and neutral-looking typeface that can be used in large blocks of text or as supportive lettering in stationery.
